Gaggia Classic UP
New Gaggia Classic UP manual espresso machine brings iconic Classic design to the power of three
Ever popular Gaggia Classic range now features three models with the Classic UP sitting between the original spec Classic (E24) and the high-performance ‘semi-pro’ Classic GT version
Friday 13th March 2026: As the inventors of the modern espresso machine, Gaggia has long been recognised by both home baristas and coffee lovers as the reference for providing the finest authentic Italian espresso.
The Classic model has long been the espresso enthusiasts’ favourite since its introduction in 1991 and now Gaggia aficionados will have the option of choosing a third model, with the launch of the new Classic UP.
Available now from official UK distributor Gaggia Direct - https://www.gaggiadirect.com/ and priced at £849.
The new Gaggia Classic UP claims its place in the Classic hierarchy by offering a step-up from the original spec of the introductory Gaggia Classic (E24) and by adding some of the features currently reserved for the Classic GT.Externally, the Classic UP adds a front brew pressure gauge, a top mounted, 2” colour TFT display, three backlit, tactile toggle control switches and a professional quality, fully articulated steam/hot water wand.
For extra convenience the Classic Up is also supplied with a choice of two drip trays to allow for different height coffee cups.
Internally, a Dual PID has been added to offer precise control of both water and steam temperature while both the shot time and the pre-infusion are now programmable.
One factor shared by all the versions of the Classic is that they all remain designed and made in Italy and have always been designed to last - being made from metal with next to no plastic parts - while also remaining easy to clean and maintain, resulting in many of the earliest machines still being in use today.
The Classic UP shares the brass boiler and oversized heating element with the original model, plus a professional sized and styled brass group head with a stainless-steel surround, while the shower head or dispersion plate and the portafilter are also stainless steel.
The Gaggia Classic Up also continues the range tradition of featuring a heavy-duty, stainless-steel construction, available in an attractive, high-quality black finish.
Commenting on the launch of the new model, Raj Beadle, Managing Director Gaggia Direct said: ‘For nearly 35 years, the Gaggia Classic has held a special place by offering the performance and quality of professional machine in a consumer-friendly format. I’m delighted that with the arrival of the Gaggia Classic UP we are extending the range to cater for an even wider audience of espresso lovers and we now have a model for everybody from the enthusiastic amateur to the serious coffee aficionado and the professional Barista’.
